Courts Plus members will enjoy brand new food and beverage offerings beginning June 1 thanks to JBarron’s, an independent restaurateur located in the space formerly known as Courts Café.
Just as caterer RoccoVino’s is now operating the Elmhurst Park District pool concessions, JBarron’s is an independent owner, which will allow Courts Plus staff to focus entirely on enhancing members’ health and wellness.
JBarron’s offers an extensive breakfast menu including sausage, eggs, pancakes, bagels, and more, as well as lunch and dinner options such as paninis, quesadillas, salads, and sandwiches. The kids’ menu includes mac & cheese, hot dogs, and chicken nuggets, as well as healthy snacks such as fruit cups and veggie cups.
The new restaurant features extended hours; JBarron’s is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday evening hours are 4-7 p.m.

Now located on the first floor of Courts Plus, the new and improved Kids Plus childcare center boasts unique opportunities for creative play. With a stage for kids to host dramatic performances, dance, or just play, there's no doubt as to the centerpiece of the new space. The new Kids Plus offers dedicated areas for play and "work," with a quiet library room for the older kids featuring a computer and loads of books, thanks to a donation from the Elmhurst Public Library. There's also a separate playroom featuring a climb-on alligator toy, mats, and cubbies, as well as a separate area with play kitchen and ball pit.
According to Kids Plus Supervisor Carolyn Kelley, "We're really accenting dramatic play - we have a stage, we have room for gross motor play. We also have a quiet library for homework for the older children, and we encourage art - we have "messy areas" devoted to paint, playdough, and clay. We truly have something for everyone." For more information on Kids Plus, contact Carolyn Kelley at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Add functional exercise to a workout regimen to prevent boredom. Functional exercise involves performing exercises that are based on real-life movements. For instance, many daily activities, such us lifting groceries, climbing hills and stairs or picking up your children require using the major muscle groups including those of the chest, back, legs and abdominal region. Performing functional exercises in the gym break up the monotony and boredom of simply going from one weight machine to the next where you are sitting and not using your stabilizing muscles as effectively. Although these exercises can be challenging, such as performing one-legged squats, deadlifts and step-ups with dumbbells and barbells, engaging a partner to alternate exercises with and doing them to music make them rewarding.
Kindergarten Kapers is a pre-kindergarten and kindergarten enrichment program for children ages 4-6 years that has expanded to 5 days per week, offering morning or afternoon sessions with after care available and a supervised lunch time option. Kindergarten Kapers focuses on developing gross motor skills, through sports, games and exercise. It includes time in our Fit 4 Life gym, climbing wall bouldering, and 10 and under tennis lessons. (Pre)Reading, math and science skills are also offered in a positive, child centered environment where your child can build self esteem, and meet with friends and develop a lifetime passion for being fit and healthy.
