This month Courts Plus is challenging you to add some variety to your health and fitness plan! Try switching up your routine at Courts Plus by trying something new, maybe a class or a different machine. You might discover a new passion or get out of the exercise doldrums. Those who complete the challenge can also win a gift card by entering the raffle after you complete the challenge. Raffle tickets will be accepted until September 5.
Dorothy Sinson just returned from competing in the triathlon at the 2015 National Senior Games in Minneapolis. This is her 14th triathlon and her past accomplishments include 11 first place medals. Dorothy is 84, she became a triathlete at age 78.
The annual Courts Plus shutdown begins with the pool closing from August 3 to August 16. The entire facility will be shut down from 6 p.m. on Friday, August 14 to 5 a.m. on Monday, August 17. For the duration of the Courts Plus pool closing, the outdoor pools will be available for use. The outdoor pool schedule will be available at the Courts Plus Service Desk beginning Monday, July 20.

Share the joy of movement and music with your child at the Courts Plus Bollywood Style Dance Bash in Plunkett Park with Akanksha Dar, member of the Kalariya Center for Indian Performing Arts and Mandala South Asian Performing Arts. The Dance Bash will be held August 15, 1-3 p.m. for kids ages 5-12 with parent. Together, parents and kids will stretch and learn a few Bollywood-style dances. Then, kids will go inside Courts Plus to make a craft while parents stay outside for a more focused work out.
Do you have an aspiring young chef in the family between the ages of 6-12? Give them a chance to let their talent shine by joining Courts Plus and Chef Javier of J Barones Café for the kids-only Elmhurst Iron Chef Competition on August 1 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Kids will create a one-of-a-kind pasta or rice dish using healthy ingredients. Final dishes will be presented to a panel of judges for a taste test and trophies or ribbons will be awarded to each age category, 6-8 years and 9-12 years. Winning dishes will also be printed in the Courts Plus E-News.
